Ljubljana starts new ICE season with win over FTC
The Slovenians defeat the Hungarian hosts in the first game of the 2026/27 ICE season.
To kick off the 2026/27 season in the win2day ICE-Hockey-League, Olimpija Ljubljana celebrates a 5:3 away victory over FTC Budapest.
In the clash of the capital clubs, the Slovenians took the lead in the eighth minute through Kirichenko, but Tammela equalized just two minutes later on the power play. However, Ljubljana struck back immediately, with Lawrence putting his team back in front (10th).
In the second period, the visitors were able to extend their lead, as Quince (30th) and Urbas (33rd/PP) stretched Olimpija Ljubljana's lead to 4:1, while Laskawy gave FTC-Telekom hope again (34th).
Ljubljana sees out opening victory
Although Kestila brought the home side back into the game with a 3:4 goal (46th/PP) in the final period, TJ Brennan scored the 5:3 goal to seal the final score in favor of the Slovenians (55th/PP).
