Graz comeback falls just short! Budapest wins in overtime
The Graz99ers first rally from a 0-3 deficit, but ultimately fall to FTC-Telekom in overtime.
The Graz99ers suffered a 3-4 defeat on a power play against FTC-Telekom in the 16th round of the win2day ICE Hockey League.
In Budapest, the hosts took an early lead, with Savoie making it 1-0 in just the second minute. Afterwards, there were several penalties on both sides, but neither team managed to score on the power play.
A quieter phase followed, with the action only picking up again towards the end of the middle period. Rönni extended Ferencvaros' lead to 2-0 (34th minute), and Heljanko, shorthanded, even made it 3-0 for the simply more efficient hosts (40th minute).
Graz Comeback Goes Unrewarded
However, Swaney gave the Graz team renewed hope just before the end of the second period, scoring to cut the deficit (40th minute).
And the hopes of the Styrians indeed lived on in the final period, as Feldner cut the lead to 2-3 (50th minute), and Hora equalized one minute before the end of regulation (59th minute). This sent the game into overtime, where Heljanko sealed the decision (63rd minute).
