Lionel Messi broke two milestones in the World Cup Round of 16 match against Cape Verde.
7,323 days after his World Cup debut for Argentina, the 39-year-old is on the pitch in his 30th World Cup match. With the 1-0 goal in the 29th minute, the superstar also scored his 20th World Cup goal overall. Messi is the first footballer in history to reach both marks.
"La Pulga" recorded his first World Cup appearance and first World Cup goal at the 2006 World Cup in the 6-0 victory against Serbia and Montenegro.
