The much-discussed "Pride Match" between Egypt and Iran, the final Group G game in Seattle, ends in a 1-1 draw.

Wild Opening Phase
Egypt gets off to a perfect start in the match. In the fifth minute, Mahmoud Saber scores the opener following an assist from superstar Mohamed Salah.
But Iran doesn't let the setback get to them for long. In the ninth minute, Mehdi Taremi goes down in the opposing penalty area. The referee awards a penalty, Taremi himself steps up and is denied by Egypt keeper Mostafa Shoubeir.
A short time later, the ball finds the net after all. Ramin Rezaeian capitalizes on a rebound to equalize for Iran (14').

After the frantic opening phase, the game somewhat levels off. Neither team poses a real threat again in the first half.
The second half sees a similar picture. Both teams constantly attack and try to score the winning goal, but neither takes the ultimate risk.
Shortly before the end of the match, Iran does score after all. However, Shoja Khalilzadeh's goal is disallowed due to a marginal offside position (90+4').
