Familiar names missing: Ancelotti surprises with squad selection
A shake-up is underway for Brazil. Carlo Ancelotti makes this evident with his squad.
Carlo Ancelotti has omitted some familiar names from his first squad selection since the World Cup.
Following the retirement of record goalscorer Neymar, it was clear that a rejuvenation was due for the Brazilian national team.
Nevertheless, the 67-year-old surprises with some personnel decisions.
Alisson and Ederson missing
The goalkeeping selection is particularly striking. With Hugo Souza (SC Corinthians), Pedro Morisco (Coritiba), and Otávio (Cruzeiro), three rather unknown names are in the squad.
The latter two are also only 22 and 20 years old, respectively.
Alisson and Ederson, however, were not called up. Other big names like Matheus Cunha, Bremer, and Gabriel Martinelli are also missing from the squad. Joao Pedro, on the other hand, is back in the squad.
