Austria's U19 women's national team secures another victory at the European Championship in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It's a historic one.

In their second match, Markus Hackl's team prevailed against Switzerland with a 3-1 score. The ÖFB eleven thus secures the top spot in Group B and books a EURO semi-final ticket for the first time.

The game began with both teams feeling each other out. Austria recorded the first chance through Maja Keckeis. After 34 minutes, Valentina Pötzl ran alone towards the Swiss goal, but was denied by goalkeeper Zwyssig.

Austrians Push for First Goal Before Halftime

Frizberg experienced a similar fate shortly after (37'). Her shot was once again saved by the strong-parrying Swiss goalkeeper.

The Austrians pressed for the opening goal and scored it shortly before halftime (41'). Illinger shifted the play to Pötzl, who brought the ball to the center. There, Richter was waiting, and she calmly slotted it into the bottom right corner, leaving Zwyssig no chance this time.

Illinger Scores a Spectacular Goal

After the break, the game became increasingly physical. The Austrians continued to set the pace. Captain Illinger extended the lead to 2-0 with a spectacular long-range shot in the 59th minute.

But the Swiss did not give up either. After about an hour, the Austrians retreated further and further. In the 66th minute, Grabenhofer had to intervene one of the few times.

Intense Final Phase

The opponents' period of pressure was rewarded with a goal shortly after. Hinder converted a corner kick with a header to make it 2-1 (69').

In the intense final phase, Spinn sealed the deal. She netted in stoppage time after a fine assist from Krassnig to make it the final score 3-1 (90.+2).

Austria will face Spain's U19 women on Saturday, but their semi-final ticket is already secured.
