Italy celebrates first win against Turkey since Mancini's return

In their away match in Bursa, Italy secured head coach Roberto Mancini his first victory in his second tenure. The "Squadra Azzurra" clearly beat Turkey 4-1.

The Italians got off to a lightning start in the match: Pio Esposito's shot was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Bayindir, but from the ensuing corner, the ball slipped through to Bastoni, who tapped in for the lead (9').

In the 22nd minute, Bayindir couldn't hold onto a low shot from Kayode, and Frattesi was there to score for 2-0. A few moments later, Kayode himself was nicely played through and beat Bayindir at the near post (27').

Immediately after the break, hope briefly flickered when Yilmaz reduced the deficit to 1-3 after a foray by Donnarumma (47'). But Italy responded promptly; after Tonali's shot hit the post, the ball landed at the feet of Pio Esposito, who restored the old lead (50'). Nothing else happened afterwards; the score remained 4-1.

After two matches, Italy has three points and thus occupies third place in Group 1 of League A. Turkey suffers its second consecutive defeat and sits at the bottom of the table with zero points.
