In addition to the currently called-up Kevin Danso, Philipp Lienhart, David Affengruber, Marco Friedl, Max Wöber, and Felix Bacher, players like David Alaba, Samson Baidoo, Leopold Querfeld, Michael Svoboda, Jannik Schuster, or Ifeanyi Ndukwe are also options for this position in the medium term.
Affengruber was allowed to make his starting XI debut against Kosovo and left a strong impression. Bacher will be next.
Veratschnig "didn't look like a debutant"
At the full-back position, it was Nikolas Veratschnig's turn this time. "He didn't look like a debutant. He did really well," Rangnick praised the Salzburg captain.
However, it is to be expected that Konrad Laimer, now that he is fit again, will be deployed in this position in the future. Stefan Posch is also likely to be ahead of Veratschnig.

Seiwald-Schlager duo undisputed
In central defensive midfield, Xaver Schlager and Nicolas Seiwald should be first choice in the long term. The two have proven as a duo that they can also perform against deep-sitting opponents.
In the attacking three, the race is currently more open. Romano Schmid seems to be the only one assured of a place, and Patrick Wimmer also did a lot to promote himself recently.
Youngsters impress
Paul Wanner, who can also play as a number six and impressed with two assists, and Carney Chukwuemeka have both also made a good impression in this training camp so far. Marco Grüll only got one half to prove his strong form, Sascha Horvath and Christoph Lang even significantly less time.
Vasilije Markovic, now that he is de facto secured for the ÖFB team, will probably have to wait a little longer for his next senior team appearance.

Austria has never been dependent on individual stars in the recent past. Even less so is this the case in times without Alaba, Arnautovic, Sabitzer, Laimer, and Baumgartner.
The strength of the ÖFB team has always been in its collectiveness recently. That holds true today more than almost ever before.
Austria cannot field two complete squads, as Jürgen Klopp did in Germany. "With all the imagination I have, I don't know if we could have sensibly invited 44 players," Rangnick said.
