Upper Austria's Head of Football Hopes for Progress on National Stadium
The bank manager is pleased about international matches in Linz and at the same time hopes for progress at the federal level.
Ahead of Austria's international match against Israel (from 8:45 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>) at the Raiffeisen Arena in Linz, the "Kronen Zeitung" spoke with Stefan Sandberger. He has been President of the Upper Austrian Football Association for about a year (pictured left in the title image).
The Head of the OÖFV and Board Member for Sales at Raiffeisenlandesbank Oberösterreich is confident in the stadium infrastructure in Linz. "It is truly satisfying when international matches take place, and especially with this frequency – it's already the seventh in Linz," said Sandberger.
"Would be a great opportunity for Austrian football"
The 58-year-old was co-responsible for the construction of the stadium where LASK plays its home games. "A lot of blood, sweat, and tears have flowed. It was not an easy journey," he said.
At the same time, Sandberger finds it regrettable "that nothing is moving at the federal level towards a stadium in Vienna – that would be a great opportunity for Austrian football!"
For LASK, the bank manager wishes for continuous and sustainable development. "And I also hope that Blau-Weiß gets promoted again! The derby was always great," said Sandberger.
