LASK Player Switches National Allegiance: "We've Been Watching Him for a Year"

Across the Atlantic, another LASK professional could make his first international appearance. Englishman Miguel Freckleton (23) has switched national allegiance and was nominated as the sole debutant for Jamaica.

Papers are Ready

The 23-year-old moved from St. Mirren (Scotland) to the steel city this summer. "The papers are through, he can now play for Jamaica, and we can finally invite him," interim team manager Rudolph Speid is quoted as saying.

The defender has been on the list for a while. "We've been watching him for a year; back then, we scouted players for World Cup qualifiers. But he wasn't eligible yet," said the coach.

Matches against Guatemala and Honduras await in the CONCACAF Nations League.
