Former Salzburg Coach Set to Succeed Klopp at Red Bull
The German is reportedly leaving his post in Japan for the new role.
Jürgen Klopp has left Red Bull and is now the German national team coach.
However, his position as "Global Head of Soccer" is to be refilled. According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Red Bull has found a successor.
Former Salzburg Coach Likely to Follow Klopp
Accordingly, former Salzburg coach Roger Schmidt will take on the job. The German has been an advisor to the Japanese J League since October 2025, and previously coached Benfica, PSV, and Bayer Leverkusen, among others.
Between 2012 and 2014, he was head coach at FC Red Bull Salzburg. Red Bull is, as is well known, the main sponsor there.
According to Romano, Florian Scholz will become "Global Head of Commercial"; he worked for years in various roles at RB Leipzig (2015-2023).
Red Bull also acts as the main sponsor for the Rasenballer.
