Comeback Complete! Croatia Re-appoints Bilic as Head Coach
The 57-year-old was previously in charge of Croatia from 2006 to 2012, and now he's back.
Croatia has a new head coach, and he's a familiar face!
Slaven Bilic, who previously managed the team from 2006 to 2012, returns to the sidelines. The federation did not provide any information regarding the contract duration.
In 2008, he led the team to the European Championship quarter-finals, but they failed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup. In 2012, they were eliminated in the group stage of the European Championship.
Dalic Resigns After World Cup Exit
The former football professional takes over the position from Zlatko Dalic. He resigned after the defeat against Portugal in the round of sixteen at the World Cup.
Bilic previously coached the Saudi Arabian club Al-Fateh.
"It's up to me to bring the necessary energy, ambition, and determination to ensure Croatia remains among football's elite. I am extraordinarily looking forward to this challenge and feel perfectly equipped for it," he is quoted in a statement.
He adds: "Today I am a more mature and experienced coach."
