70,000 Ticket Requests! Huge Interest in Super Cup in Salzburg
The UEFA Super Cup between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa will take place at the Red Bull Arena in August. Tickets were in high demand.
On August 12, the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg will be the venue for the UEFA Super Cup clash between Champions League winner Paris Saint-Germain and Europa League winner Aston Villa.
Stephan Reiter, Managing Director of FC Red Bull Salzburg, revealed to "SALZBURG24" that around 70,000 ticket requests for the match have been recorded so far.
This means the stadium, which will accommodate a total of 28,500 fans for the match between PSG and Aston Villa, could have been sold out twice over. Both clubs received 7,000 tickets each for their supporters, while UEFA made 9,000 tickets available to the general public.
Fan Festival at Residenzplatz
"Through the many international matches over the years, we have built good relationships with UEFA. They know us and our work on match days very well. Over all the years we have played internationally, the association has noticed that Salzburg as a city, the stadium, and the team behind it can be relied upon," explains Reiter.
As host, the city of Salzburg is organizing fan services, mobility, and security. There will be a fan festival at Residenzplatz one day before the match (August 11) and on match day (August 12). Separate meeting points will be set up for the two fan groups.
According to "SALZBURG24", the total costs for the UEFA Super Cup for the authorities amount to 400,000 Euros.
UEFA will cover a large portion of the costs surrounding the match. "For us as a club, there are expense reimbursements, especially for our employees who are working many days and nights. Generally, it's certainly not about making a lot of money, but about offering a stage to football and Salzburg," says Reiter.
