Arsenal offloads attacking star - new signing imminent
The "Gunners" sell a Belgian to Turkey. A new winger is reportedly on the verge of joining.
Leandro Trossard is leaving Arsenal FC.
The Belgian (31) is moving to Besiktas JK in the Turkish Süper Lig for a transfer fee of around 18 million Euros.
The London club officially announced this on Tuesday. The World Cup participant and 54-cap international is set to sign a three-year contract (including an option for an additional year) in Istanbul.
The wide player becomes the most expensive new signing in the club's history, following the permanent signing of midfielder Orkan Kökcü this summer.
Greek as successor?
Trossard had moved to London from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023 for 24 million Euros.
He won the Premier League with the "Gunners" last season – in total, he made 174 appearances for the club, contributing 36 goals and 34 assists.
Christos Tzolis is reportedly ready to step in as a potential successor. The 24-year-old Greek is said to be on the verge of a move from Club Brugge to the reigning English champions. According to consistent media reports, around 41 million Euros in transfer fees are set to go to the Belgians.
