Fitz laments Minnesota: "Coach didn't talk to me"

For Dominik Fitz, the adventure in North American Major League Soccer turned into a major disappointment.

In August 2025, he transferred from Wiener Austria to Minnesota United for two million Euros. He made no more than nine appearances – none of them for the full 90 minutes.

"The way it ended up was, of course, really bitter," Fitz now explains in an interview with the "Kleine Zeitung".

Coach avoided Fitz

"Initially, I played a bit in America, starting once and coming on as a substitute a few times." The turning point came in early 2026 when an assistant coach took charge, with whom he didn't get along and who apparently didn't want him as a player.

The situation became "extremely difficult," Fitz explains. "The coach also didn't communicate with me; in fact, he barely spoke to me at all – and that was also a point that really bothered me," the 27-year-old complains.

Fitz "always gave his all" in training

"Above all, I noticed in training that I deserved to play because I always gave my all, even when it was difficult for me," Fitz criticizes. "When you never get a chance, it's very tough mentally too."

Today, he tries to take the positives from this bleak situation in Minnesota: "Nothing can break me anymore."

Meanwhile, he has already made two competitive appearances in Wolfsberg. In the ÖFB Cup against Parndorf, he also registered an assist. "I hope I can regain my old strength."
