Marcel Koller: Why he joined the arch-rival

Former ÖFB national coach Marcel Koller caused controversial discussions in Switzerland with his move to FC Zürich.
The Zurich native is actually a legend at the arch-rivals, Grasshoppers.
He spent his entire active career there, also starting his coaching career as an assistant. Between 2002 and 2003, he was then head coach of the club once more.
The Presidential Couple Convinced Him
That he would end up at the rival club of all places was not foreseeable.
"Of course, I had to think it over. I was with GC my entire career – except for two years from 10-12 at Schwamendingen. But in the end, the presidential couple convinced me. They have been involved for a long time, and you have a direct line to them," Koller explained to "blue News".
Koller has already received praise from his protégés. "He is very down-to-earth. I think young people call it aura," said central defender Alexander Hack.
Lindrit Kamberi further added: "You can feel Koller's aura and personality. His calmness and composure are impressive, and above all, he also has a certain warmth that we need."
