Goalkeeper Nico Mantl has found a new club.

The 26-year-old German moves to Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock FC. Mantl signs a contract with the bottom-placed team until the end of the season.

At Kilmarnock, number one Maksymilian Stryjek was recently sidelined due to injury, giving Mantl a realistic chance of significant playing time in Scotland.

Played for Salzburg and Blau-Weiß

Mantl was most recently under contract with FC Arouca in Portugal. However, his contract there was terminated at the beginning of September. Prior to that, the German was on loan from Arouca to FC Blau-Weiß Linz in spring 2026.

From 2021 to 2024, Mantl was the goalkeeper for FC Red Bull Salzburg.

The "Bulls" had hoped that the Munich native, who was once signed for two million Euros from Unterhaching, would hold the number one spot for years, but he ultimately played only eleven games for the "Bulls'" first team. During that period, Mantl was also loaned out to Aalborg and Viborg in Denmark.

In 2024, he was transferred to Arouca for 500,000 Euros.
