LASK Opponent Likely Beats Salzburg to Former ÖFB Talent

Ermin Mahmic still played for the ÖFB U21 national team in March, but then switched associations to Bosnia & Herzegovina before the World Cup.

He immediately scored two goals at the World Cup. The 21-year-old is considered a hot commodity on the transfer market.

For weeks, rumors have been circulating about a move to the ADMIRAL Bundesliga to FC Red Bull Salzburg. The former SK Rapid youth player gained his first professional experience at Lafnitz in Austria.

Salzburg Reportedly Misses Out

However, Salzburg is now likely to miss out. As reported by "infotbal" from the Czech Republic, among others, the current Slovan Liberec player is on the verge of a move to Celtic Glasgow.

Prior to this, there had been talks with Basel and Salzburg. The transfer fee is said to be between seven and eight million Euros, and the deal is considered far advanced.

Scots to Play in Linz Soon

The traditional Scottish club is the opponent of Austrian champions LASK in the UEFA Champions League playoff. If the Mahmic deal goes through promptly, the former ÖFB youth team player could then also play in Linz.

The Wels native only moved from Laufnitz to the Czech Republic in the summer of 2025, where he delivered a strong debut season (eight goals and four assists in 30 games).
