João Palhinha has been back at FC Bayern since this summer.

After his loan spell at Spurs last season, the 31-year-old completed pre-season with the German record champions, featuring in four friendlies.

However, the Portuguese does not have a future at Säbener Straße, which is why he is expected to be sold before the transfer deadline. The club wants to save Palhinha's high salary and is also relying on younger players in midfield such as Tom Bischof or Bara Sapoko Ndiaye.

Europa League winners pursue Palhinha

There have recently been several rumors about interested parties in João Palhinha. Now Aston Villa is said to have the best chances of signing the Portuguese and is already holding talks with FC Bayern.

Sticking point: The Europa League winners are apparently insisting on a loan deal, while the Munich club wants to sell Palhinha permanently. Therefore, according to "Sky", FC Bayern is said to have rejected a loan offer with a purchase option. The English club now wants to renegotiate.

No perspective in Munich

Palhinha is said to have already agreed on a move with Aston Villa. Originally, the 30-year-old wanted to fight for his place in the Bayern squad, but in view of the lack of sporting perspective, he is now reportedly on the verge of leaving.

Palhinha moved from FC Fulham to FC Bayern in the summer of 2024 for 51 million euros and was considered a desired player by then-coach Thomas Tuchel. Vincent Kompany had little use for the defensive midfielder. The Portuguese made only 25 competitive appearances last season.
