What's next for Sasa Kalajdzic?
Last Friday, the 29-year-old was absent from the Wolverhampton Wanderers' squad when they played their competitive season opener in the League Cup against Port Vale.
The same is true a week later; Kalajdzic will also not be part of the squad for the league start against Blackburn Rovers. On the other hand, because he is expected to leave the "Wolves" this summer.
Training with the U21
According to newly appointed coach Cesar Peixoto, Kalajdzic is training with the U21. He, along with former Salzburg player Hee-Chang Hwang and several other players, is no longer part of the first team.
It's difficult for him "just to have players running around the pitch," but "we have many players, and we need to get the training sessions organised," Peixoto explained to "Express & Star".
Fan Favorite Returns
One reason for Kalajdzic's expected departure is likely the return of fan favourite Raul Jimenez, who scored 40 Premier League goals for the "Wolves" between 2018 and 2023.
Nevertheless, a return to LASK is considered unlikely. Even if coach Didi Kühbauer "would carry him through Linz if he came back to us."
Due to the 29-year-old's high salary, which according to English media is said to be around five million euros annually, a move to a bigger club (possibly with concessions) is more realistic.
What happens next for Kalajdzic remains uncertain. His contract in Wolverhampton still has one year left.
