Matthias Jaissle snaps up Portuguese World Cup player
Trincao leaves Sporting Lisbon and joins Asian Champions League winner Al-Ahli.
Saudi top club Al-Ahli SFC has strengthened its squad with Francisco Trincao.
"I am very proud to play for Al Ahli now," the 26-year-old Portuguese said, delighted about the move.
Trincao, who recently participated in the World Cup with Portugal, will cost Al-Ahli a transfer fee of 39.3 million euros. With bonus payments, this could rise to 43.7 million euros.
Sporting Lisbon can thus be delighted about another substantial transfer fee. In fact, the Portuguese top club has already surpassed the 150 million euro mark in transfer income this summer. This also marks a new club record.
Now four years under Jaissle?
Trincao signs a contract until 2030 with the reigning Asian Champions League winner, where former Salzburg coach Matthias Jaissle has been head coach since 2023.
For Sporting Lisbon, the 19-time Portugal international registered 13 goals and 18 assists in 53 games last season.
Previously, the attacking midfielder also played for FC Barcelona and Wolverhampton Wanderers, among other clubs.
