Former Bayern Goalkeeper Follows Thomas Letsch as Coach to the Desert

After Alexander Zickler, another former Bayern player joins the coaching staff of the former Salzburg coach.

Thomas Letsch recently took over as coach at Al-Shabab FC in Saudi Arabia.

The former Salzburg coach brought Kai Hesse from Salzburg with him. He is further supported by Alexander Zickler, a man he knows from their academy days.

Alongside Zickler, another former Bayern professional now joins Team Letsch. Uwe Gospodarek will be the goalkeeping coach. The 52-year-old played in goal nine times for the German record champions and made 71 appearances for the club's amateurs.

Most Recently in Cologne

Later, he played between the posts for Bochum, Kaiserslautern, Jahn Regensburg, Wacker Burghausen, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Hannover 96.

In total, he made 71 appearances in the German Bundesliga and 156 appearances in the 2. German Bundesliga.

Most recently, he worked as a goalkeeping coach at 1. FC Köln between 2021 and 2024; before that, VfB Stuttgart was his employer (2019-2021). In the past, he assisted former Altach coach Miroslav Klose in the Bayern youth setup.
