Leipzig goalkeeper Gulacsi set for Spain move
The Hungarian would only be a second-choice keeper for the Red Bulls in the future. Now he is reportedly looking for a new challenge.
Goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi (36) is reportedly set to leave RB Leipzig after eleven years and join Villarreal CF.
This is reported by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. Talks are said to be already advanced.
Gulacsi had only extended his contract in Leipzig by another year until 2027 in February. Even then, it was clear that Belgian Maarten Vandevoordt (24) would take over as the number one keeper from summer, with Gulacsi moving to the bench.
Champions League with Villarreal
In Villarreal, the Hungarian would compete in the UEFA Champions League. The "Yellow Submarine" qualified for Europe's premier club competition as third-place finishers last season.
Gulacsi moved from FC Red Bull Salzburg to Leipzig in the summer of 2015 and had been the undisputed number one between the posts in recent years. In 2022, he won the DFB-Pokal with the Red Bulls.
