Buy-back Clause and Record Fee: Paz from Como to Real and Back
Real Madrid brings the attacking gem back to Madrid cheaply via a buy-back clause and immediately sells him back to Como. The new deal is said to include another clause.
Busy times for Nico Paz!
The talented attacking player is currently with the Argentine national team at the FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
The 21-year-old made his World Cup debut in the 80th minute against Algeria, and could even start for superstar Lionel Messi in the final group match against Jordan.
Real Triggers the Clause
Away from the tournament, negotiations regarding his personal future are running in parallel. The attacking midfielder is actually under contract with Como 1907 until summer 2028. However, because his former club Real Madrid holds a buy-back option, a wild back-and-forth is now unfolding.
As transfer experts Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio consistently report, Real will trigger the nine-million-euro clause, bringing Paz back to Madrid. A bargain, as the Argentine now has a market value of 80 million euros.
Return to Lake Como
However, Paz himself will not remain in the Spanish capital. According to reports, Como will buy back the attacking player for 60 million euros; final details are likely still being negotiated.
Real is reportedly set to have a new buy-back clause, this time for 80 million euros.
The youngster thus becomes the record transfer for the club from Lake Como. The Italians have never spent more than 22.5 million euros on a player (Jesus Rodriguez 2025/26 from Betis).
Successful Season
Paz joined from Real Madrid's youth academy in summer 2024 for six million euros. At Como, he has developed rapidly under Cesc Fabregas and helped the club secure Champions League qualification last season with 13 goals and seven assists.
In the coming year, he now wants to showcase his qualities with Como on the biggest stage in the Champions League.
