Italy mourns football legend Franco Baresi
AC Milan confirms that the "Kaiser" passed away at the age of 66 after a serious illness.
Italian football legend Franco Baresi has died.
The former world-class sweeper passed away at the age of 66 after a serious illness, as announced by AC Milan. A year ago, a lung nodule had been removed from Baresi, and he had been undergoing treatment ever since.
Baresi spent his entire playing career with the "Rossoneri", making 716 competitive appearances for the storied club. At club level, he won almost everything there is to win: the Scudetto (6x), the Champions League (3x), the UEFA Super Cup (3x), as well as the Italian Supercup (4x) and the Intercontinental Cup (4x).
Since 2020, Baresi had served as Vice-President for the Milan club.
