Report: Nagelsmann resigns as national coach >>>
After several disappointing World Cups in a row, a change is now expected in the German national team.
The primary candidate for the position is Jürgen Klopp. He is currently Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull but is reportedly not averse to coaching his home country in the future.
Does Klopp have a release clause?
Rumours about his release clause are currently circulating in several media outlets. The "Kicker" reports that there isn't one. However, an agreement is said to have been made that Klopp would have the opportunity to accept such an offer.
The "Bild" also reports that the 59-year-old does not have a clause.
Transfer fee in the millions
Klopp, who has been working at Red Bull since January 1, 2025, still has a contract there until the end of 2029. Therefore, a transfer fee could be expensive for the DFB. According to the German medium, it could be a figure in the single-digit millions.
Fabrizio Romano sees the situation differently. According to him, the former Liverpool coach has a release clause, but it would only apply to the DFB, as "Kloppo" has always wanted to become a national team coach.
