DFB-Pokal: St. Pauli and David Nemeth fall to third-tier club
The relegated Bundesliga side suffers embarrassment in the first cup round in Essen.
Out in round one!
With FC St. Pauli, the second relegated German Bundesliga club has already been eliminated in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. The Hamburg side suffered a 0-2 defeat against Rot-Weiß Essen.
Jannsen scored the goals in the first half (36th minute) and Telalovic after the break (53rd minute). Austrian international David Nemeth wore the captain's armband for Pauli and played the full match.
Heidenheim also suffers embarrassment
However, things went better for SC Freiburg: With Philipp Lienhart playing the full match for the visitors, the Breisgau side secured a comfortable 1-5 victory against Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Earlier in the afternoon, another relegated Bundesliga club, 1. FC Heidenheim, suffered an embarrassing exit in round one. Frank Schmidt's team lost 2-5 to regional league side Jeddeloh (All information here >>>).
