RB Leipzig chases Belgian international striker
The Saxons want to bolster their attack with a Belgian World Cup participant, but will have to dig deep into their pockets for the Lille striker.
RB Leipzig is reportedly getting serious in their search for attacking reinforcements. According to multiple media reports, the Saxons have submitted an offer of around 35 million euros for Matias Fernández-Pardo to OSC Lille.
The 21-year-old Belgian is reportedly already in principle agreement with Leipzig over a move. Now it's about reaching an agreement between the clubs.
One of Leipzig's Most Expensive Transfers
Fernández-Pardo caught attention last season with eight goals and five assists in 29 Ligue 1 appearances. He was also part of Belgium's World Cup squad.
Should Leipzig actually pay around 35 million euros for the attacker, Fernández-Pardo would be one of the most expensive transfers in the club's history. So far, only Xavi Simons (50 million), Lois Openda (40 million), Josko Gvardiol (36.8 million), and Dominik Szoboszlai (36 million) have cost more.
That Fernández-Pardo is likely to leave OSC Lille this transfer window seems to be an open secret anyway. The 21-year-old was not in the squad for the "Dogues'" official season opener due to a suspension.
Leipzig's attack could also be bolstered this summer by the return of Christopher Nkunku. The 28-year-old's transfer is reportedly already in its final stages.
