Harry Kane is Germany's Footballer of the Year
The Bayern striker is named Germany's best footballer for the first time.
Harry Kane is Germany's Footballer of the Year 2026.
The FC Bayern Munich striker received 272 votes in the poll organized by "Kicker," thus prevailing against his teammate Michael Olise (203) and Stuttgart's Deniz Undav (61).
A total of 656 members of the Association of German Sports Journalists (VDS) participated in the vote. For Kane, it is his first award as Germany's Footballer of the Year.
Kane with an outstanding season
The 33-year-old Englishman looks back on an impressive 2025/26 season. In 51 competitive matches, Kane scored 61 goals and set up seven more.
With Kane, a foreign player wins the award again for the first time since 2022. Back then, Christopher Nkunku was honored. In the past three years, the title went to a German player each time – Florian Wirtz (2025), Toni Kroos (2024), and Ilkay Gündogan (2023).
The other awards have also been decided: Bayern coach Vincent Kompany is named Coach of the Year. In the women's category, the title once again goes to Giulia Gwinn. The captain of the German national team thus defends her award from the previous year.
