Marcel Schäfer has a lot on his plate at RB Leipzig!

With nine days remaining until the close of the transfer window, the "Red Bulls" squad is far from complete. Ideally, significant movement is expected in the coming days, both in terms of new arrivals and departures.

Departures

But first, let's take things in order: With 32 players currently, RB's squad is too large, even considering the triple fixture burden.

This is also a reason why they are still searching for buyers for players like defensive veteran Lukas Klostermann, or the recently loaned-out duo Arthur Vermeeren and Eljif Elmas.

Furthermore, striker Conrad Harder, who joined from Sporting last summer for 24 million Euros, is reportedly allowed to leave, according to "Sky".

Who Will Bolster the Attack?

On the incoming front, the search for reinforcements continues across three positions. Consistent media reports suggest specific targets include a defensive midfielder, a Diomande replacement on the wing, and a central striker.

The most concrete rumour currently concerns a return for Christopher Nkunku. According to "Bild", negotiations with AC Milan are in full swing. Newcastle United, led by former Salzburg coach Matthias Jaissle, is also reportedly interested.

The 28-year-old Frenchman is out of favour under Ruben Amorim and is permitted to leave the club this summer. Leipzig reportedly prefers a loan with an option to buy.

Nkunku enjoyed his most successful period in Leipzig. The versatile attacking player arrived from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2019, joining the German Bundesliga, and developed into one of the league's top players.

Over four years, he scored 70 goals in 172 appearances for RB before moving to FC Chelsea for 60 million Euros.

Further Names

Beyond Nkunku, Nicolo Tresoldi is also reportedly on the "Red Bulls'" shortlist, according to "Sky". The German U21 international is currently under contract with Club Brugge.

The "Leipziger Volkszeitung", however, has put two new names into the frame: currently unattached Jadon Sancho and Newcastle forward Nick Woltemade.
