Double Injury Shock: The Status of DFB Star Duo
Two German midfield stars had to leave the field injured over the weekend. One of them seems to have suffered a worse injury.
Angelo Stiller and Assan Ouedraogo suffered a setback last weekend.
While the former had to leave the field after a collision during Stuttgart's defeat against Christian Ilzer's TSG Hoffenheim, Leipzig's Ouedraogo also couldn't continue in the "Red Bulls'" 5-0 thrashing of HSV.
Stiller's diagnosis is already available, while in Ouedraogo's case, there are only speculations for now.
All-clear for Stiller
As VfB Stuttgart has now announced, Stiller only suffered a knee contusion in a challenge with Ozan Kabak. The Swabian midfield maestro is therefore unlikely to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The nine-time DFB team player is expected to be back on board against Borussia Dortmund as early as next weekend. The 19-year-old from Vorarlberg, Yanik Spalt, had come into the match for Stiller after 35 minutes.
Dislocated Shoulder for Leipzig Star
The situation looks worse for Assan Ouedraogo.
The RB Leipzig midfielder dislocated his shoulder in a challenge with HSV player Grönbaek. The teammate of ÖFB duo Nicolas Seiwald and Christoph Baumgartner had already sustained a shoulder injury at the beginning of August.
Ouedraogo's shoulder was reset on the pitch amidst great pain. The 20-year-old was then substituted in tears, with Christopher Nkunku coming on for him.
Leipzig head coach Martin Demichelis said afterwards: "It's probably the same injury as in pre-season. It doesn't look good, but we don't have an exact diagnosis yet."
