German Bundesliga: Hütter and Ilzer Secure First Wins of the Season
The two Austrian head coaches, with Eintracht Frankfurt and TSG Hoffenheim respectively, secure their first win in the third league match.
A successful Saturday afternoon for the Austrian head coaches in the German Bundesliga!
Adi Hütter and Eintracht Frankfurt celebrated a 1-3 away victory against Mainz 05 in the third round. For Eintracht, it's their first win of the young season. Previously, they had a draw against Union and a clear 1-4 defeat against Augsburg.
In Mainz, Can Uzun put Hütter's squad on track for success early on (9'). The decisive moment came just before halftime: First, Nadiem Amiri missed a penalty for Mainz, then Jonathan Burkardt scored to make it 2-0 after a counter-attack (45'+1).
In the second half, Uzun extended the lead with his second goal (60'), while Mainz, with Phillip Mwene playing until the 74th minute, managed to score a consolation goal through Phillip Tietz (89').
Ilzer and TSG also win
Christian Ilzer and his TSG Hoffenheim also secured their first win of the season. The Sinsheimers won 2-1 at home against VfB Stuttgart.
Adam Hlozek scored a brace (13'/67'). Maxi Mittelstädt had equalized for Stuttgart in the interim (48').
For VfB, ÖFB-legionnaire Yannik Spalt was substituted in the 35th minute for the injured Angelo Stiller. Alexander Prass remains out for TSG due to injury. Patrick Wimmer came on as a substitute in the 55th minute.
