Return to former club: Hütter's Eintracht offloads World Cup participant
The Tunisian is likely returning to his old stomping ground. Under new head coach Adi Hütter, the 31-year-old has no future.
In the summer of 2023, Tunisian international Ellyes Skhiri moved from 1. FC Köln to Eintracht Frankfurt. Three years later, the midfielder is on the verge of returning to his old stomping ground.
According to "Bild", negotiations between the two clubs are said to have been concluded, and an agreement with the 31-year-old has also reportedly been reached.
Skhiri is expected to undergo his medical examination in the cathedral city on Thursday and then sign a contract with "Effzeh". The transfer fee is reportedly two million euros.
No Future Under Hütter
At Eintracht Frankfurt, the Tunisian had no future under new coach Adi Hütter. Already in mid-July, he had not traveled to the ten-day training camp on Lake Chiemsee to hold talks with another club. Now, the choice is said to have fallen on 1. FC Köln, for whom Skhiri already played from 2019 to 2023.
In 2023, the Tunisian moved to Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer, where he was a regular starter for a long time, recording 14 goal contributions in 117 appearances. However, last season he intermittently lost his place in the starting eleven.
