Arsenal FC is reportedly close to signing Ezri Konsa.

According to consistent reports from several media outlets, the English champions have reached an agreement with Aston Villa for the transfer of the 28-year-old centre-back. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano also reports an imminent move.

The transfer fee is reportedly €50 million plus potential bonus payments.

Konsa Set for New Chapter

Konsa has been under contract with Aston Villa since 2019 and developed into a defensive leader at the Birmingham club. The 28-cap England international has made almost 300 competitive appearances for the "Villans".

Last season, Konsa also celebrated an international title with Aston Villa. The English side triumphed in the UEFA Europa League.

Now, a new chapter reportedly awaits the centre-back. With Arsenal, Konsa would move to the reigning champions within the Premier League.

Arsenal Breaks €200 Million Mark

For the "Gunners", the signing would be another multi-million-euro step in an already extremely costly transfer summer.

With Bruno Guimaraes (€87.5m), Piero Hincapie (€40m), and Christos Tzolis (€40m), Arsenal has already spent over €160 million on new players.

Should Konsa indeed arrive for the reported €50 million, the English champions would break the €200 million mark in spending.

PL Season Kicks Off Friday

Arsenal is thus continuing to arm itself for the mission of title defence. The "Gunners" kick off the new Premier League season this coming Friday with a home game against promoted side Coventry City.

Mikel Arteta's team already celebrated a first title last Sunday. In the Community Shield, Arsenal decisively beat FA Cup winners Manchester City 3-0.

With Konsa, another high-calibre new signing could now join shortly before the start of competitive matches.
