Germany international praises ex-Salzburg player: "That is top class"
The Frenchman had little difficulty settling in at BVB. He seems to have particularly impressed his defensive leader.
After two seasons at FC Red Bull Salzburg, Joane Gadou moved to Dortmund last summer. The traditional German club paid almost 20 million euros for the centre-back.
So far, the 19-year-old Frenchman has repaid that trust with strong performances. He was already considered a great talent during his time in PSG's youth academy, and now he seems to be fulfilling his potential more and more. Alongside Germany internationals Nico Schlotterbeck and Waldemar Anton, he has been convincing in the back three.
Kovac: "The way he defends the ball is outstanding"
He recently received special praise from his teammate, Nico Schlotterbeck: "The new signings who came in are all at a top level. If I just think of Joane Gadou next to me in central defence: That is truly top class." The youngster impresses with strong tackling and immense pace.
Coach Niko Kovac is also enthusiastic about the 19-year-old's debut, but also sees room for improvement: "The way he defends the ball is outstanding. That's exactly why we signed him. On the ball, he needs to solve some situations differently, but we are working on that. When you have young players, you also have to allow them to make mistakes."
