Schicker Talks About Transfer Summer: "40 to 60 Calls Per Day"
TSG Hoffenheim's sporting director currently has a lot on his plate. His phone rarely stops ringing, as he recently revealed in an interview.
TSG Hoffenheim kicks off the 2026/27 competitive season on Saturday against Erzgebirge Aue, and the Sinsheim club has already been busy in the transfer market.
With Nathan de Cat, TSG sporting director Andreas Schicker made a clear statement in the transfer market, while offensive player Bazoumana Touré also became the Sinsheimers' record departure.
Nevertheless, there is still a lot to do for the Bundesliga club, as Schicker recently revealed in a "Bild" interview.
"I'm on my phone way too much"
"I am definitely on my phone way too much. The job brings that with it, especially since, due to my nature, I try not to put anything off. Of course, it's not always possible, even today I still have a few open WhatsApp messages. But as a rule, I always answer everything quickly and deal with open issues," said the 40-year-old.
"We're probably talking about an estimated 40 to 60 calls a day, often just short phone calls, sometimes only a minute and a half," he adds. In addition to squad planning, internal coordination, including with sporting director Paul Pajduch, is also part of his daily routine.
Schicker moved from Sturm Graz to Hoffenheim in October 2024 and is currently experiencing his second full transfer window at TSG. Last season, Hoffenheim missed out on qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
