Intriguing Transfer: Werder Reacts to Schmid's Departure
The Bremen club is strengthening its central midfield after Romano Schmid left the club. The new signing wore the captain's armband at HSV not too long ago.
Just two days after Romano Schmid's departure to Frosinone, SV Werder Bremen has signed a new midfielder.
Ludovit Reis returns to Germany from Club Brügge. The Dutchman, who can play as a number eight or a number six, signs until 2029 at the Weser.
According to "Deichstube", Werder is not paying a transfer fee for the 17-time Netherlands U21 international.
Four Years at HSV
And there's a reason for that: Reis was recently discarded at Brügge. After his move from Bremen rivals HSV to Belgium (for six million Euros), he only played ten games for the club, the last of which was in January.
The now 26-year-old played for the Hamburg club for four years. In the second-division promotion season, he even captained HSV onto the field eleven times.
"He is very strong in running, wins many balls and radiates a certain goal threat. He is a technically well-trained midfielder who has his strengths in the number six or number eight position and will help us with his quality," Werder coach Daniel Thioune is quoted on the club's website.
