Alexander Prass led TSG 1899 Hoffenheim out of their crisis with two goal involvements.

In the relegation battle, Christian Ilzer's team prevailed 2-1 against Borussia Mönchengladbach. The ÖFB player also played a significant part, assisting Conte's opening goal and scoring the second himself.

Back to former strength in an attacking role

Prass played in an unfamiliar position – at least in recent months. The left-footed player was not deployed on the left wing but instead formed the double pivot alongside Avdullahu.

"He played in a new position for TSG today, one he often played at Sturm Graz. That's why we were convinced he would do very well," Ilzer told DAZN after the game.

According to the TSG coach, Prass had an "enormously important impact on the game". Until then, the 25-year-old had barely played a role, having accumulated only 47 minutes of playing time for the Hoffenheim pros before the Gladbach match.

"Er hat viele Dinge gemacht, die dann auch nicht üblich sind für einen Top-Profi."

Ilzer über Prass

That's why, in the run-up to the last international break, Prass also decided to play for the second team in the 3. Liga to gain match practice for the ÖFB team.

A step that also impressed Ilzer: "He did many things that are not typical for a top professional. He plays in the 3. Liga, gains match practice, and works his way into contention."

With Prass, the Austrian coach certainly gains a new, or rather, old option for central midfield.
