Eintracht Frankfurt, coached by Adi Hütter, will face Hamburger SV on Sunday. An old record could be set in the process.

Eintracht player Niko Ilicevic celebrates his 16th birthday on Saturday. Just one day later, he could become the youngest player in Bundesliga history.

If he plays, the German would equal Youssoufa Moukoko, who also made his debut in Germany's top flight at the age of 16 years and one day.

"Exceptional Player"

Hütter hints at a possible appearance and emphasizes the significance of this milestone: "He won't have much time to celebrate because he will most likely be in the squad. To be part of a Bundesliga squad at 16 years old is truly exceptional," says the Austrian in the press conference ahead of the match against HSV.

"He is an exceptional player with the ball, but he has also learned to hold his ground and win duels," Hütter emphasizes the youngster's qualities.

Three Points Are a Must

However, it is also clear that the clash with HSV is of great importance for Frankfurt. Eintracht is currently in 14th place, significantly behind expectations.

While an appearance by the youngster is possible, it is not certain: "If I have the feeling that it's not the right time yet, I won't do it. The time will come, he will play eventually – then he will just be 16 years and a few weeks old."
