Stefan Posch is back on the football pitch!

The 56-cap Austrian international celebrated his comeback for Mainz 05 on the second matchday of the German Bundesliga in the 5-0 thrashing victory against HSV (to the match report >>>).

Alongside fellow ÖFB international Phillipp Mwene, who shone with a goal and an assist, the 29-year-old Styrian also delivered an impeccable performance.

Special Praise from Fischer

Mainz coach Urs Fischer was visibly pleased after the match. "He really did his job very well, as long as his strength lasted," the 60-year-old Swiss said at the post-match press conference.

Posch had returned to Mainz's back three earlier than initially planned due to the injury-related absence of defensive linchpin Dominik Kohr. Posch played 88 minutes against HSV and won nearly 56 percent of his duels.

Mainz's defense certainly seems to be solid. They are the only Bundesliga team to remain without conceding a goal after two matchdays.

Mainz currently sits in fifth place with four points, putting them ahead of FC Bayern, among others, for the moment.
