Official: New Coach for Kevin Stöger at Gladbach
After Eugen Polanski's departure from Borussia, his successor is now officially announced at the start of the international break.
It had already been hinted at, and now it's official: Alexander Blessin will be the new head coach at Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The 53-year-old German takes over from Eugen Polanski, who was dismissed after just the third Bundesliga matchday. Jan-Moritz Lichte coached the "Foals" on an interim basis during the 3-4 defeat against Mainz 05.
The Sixth Head Coach Since 2021
Blessin signs for two years at Gladbach. Following Marco Rose, Adi Hütter, Daniel Farke, Gerardo Seoane, and most recently Eugen Polanski, Blessin is already the sixth Borussia coach since 2021.
Austrian international Kevin Stöger and his team thus gain a Bundesliga-experienced head coach. Blessin previously coached FC St. Pauli for two seasons and was relegated with the "Kiezkicker" at the end of last season. He has been without a club since then.
Prior to that, he worked as head coach at Union Saint-Gilloise, CFC Genoa, and KV Oostende, as well as in the youth academy of RB Leipzig.
