The organized fans of VfL Bochum will have their freedom of movement restricted in the future.

As announced by the German second-division club on Wednesday, a jumping ban is now in effect on the Ostkurve – the sector where the Ultras are located.

The reason for the strange-sounding ban: During modernization work, it was discovered that "strong vibrations occur during certain spectator movements, which could lead to discomfort among – especially 'inexperienced' – stadium visitors."

Jumping Allowed During Goal Celebrations, Not During Choreo

However, the load-bearing capacity of the East Stand is not an issue. It is solely about the strong vibrations – also known as the trampoline effect.

The club's statement also clarifies that not every form of jumping is prohibited. While "collective, synchronized, rhythmic hopping and jumping movements are strictly forbidden," this explicitly does not include jumping during goal celebrations, but rather only "choreographed jumping."

Sporting-wise, the club of Austrian legionnaires Michael Steinwendter and Tino Casali is in ninth place after two wins from six matches.
