Instant Starter! Austrian International Steinwender Impresses at Bochum
Michael Steinwender is an immediate starter at VfL Bochum. The Austrian international is satisfied with the newly formed defense.
Michael Steinwender has quickly settled in at his new club VfL Bochum.
After four matchdays, the club is in sixth place in the table and boasts the league's second-best defense. Only Kaiserslautern has conceded fewer goals so far.
Arrived from Scotland in the Summer
"I believe that everyone in defense has good quality. We understand each other well on and off the pitch, which is very important," says the new signing, who moved from Heart of Midlothian to Bochum in the summer, to "Reviersport.de".
Steinwender has been in the starting eleven for all four games. VfL has recorded two wins and two losses so far.
Newly Formed Back Four
Apart from left-back Wittek, all players in the back four only joined the club from North Rhine-Westphalia in the summer. Accordingly, Steinwender still sees room for improvement:
"There are always a few small things that, of course, still need to be improved. But we are working hard on these every day, and that's how it should continue."
This weekend, the first home win of the new season is to be achieved against Greuther Fürth – and ideally, they'll keep another clean sheet.
