Nürnberg defeats Fürth
The afternoon also proved successful for 1. FC Nürnberg. Coach Miroslav Klose's club celebrated a 4-2 victory over Greuther Fürth.
The final score was more decisive than the match itself. Klaus put Fürth ahead from the spot (22'), and Scobel immediately equalized (26'). Klaus then seemingly scored again, but was offside (39').
Two minutes later, however, he was on hand after a Srbeny assist and netted to make it 2-1 (41'). Again, the lead didn't last long, as Justvan equalized once more in first-half stoppage time (45'+3).
The 28-year-old completed a brace after the break (54'). Then it was Fürth's turn again, with Klaus once more at the center of attention. The captain of the "Shamrocks" got another chance from the spot, but this time missed miserably (62').
Thus, Scobel also got to celebrate a brace, scoring the final goal to make it 4-2 (74').
Magdeburg bounces back from opening-day thrashing
1. FC Magdeburg rebounded from their 1-6 defeat in Round one against Eintracht Braunschweig, beating promoted side Osnabrück clearly and deservedly 3-0.
A Nollenberger brace already set the course for victory in the first half (24', 35'). Shortly after the break, Zukowski's supposed 3-0 goal was disallowed for offside after a VAR check (49'). Iyoha finally scored it (69').
Magdeburg celebrates their first points, while Osnabrück must continue to wait for theirs.
