Ugly scenes in the Lower Saxony derby between Eintracht Braunschweig and Hannover 96.

The match had to be interrupted in injury time because "fans" of the visitors from Hannover threw pyrotechnics into the home section. On top of that, seats were even torn out.

Firefighters Targeted

At one point, a fire even broke out in the stand. When firefighters tried to extinguish it, they were attacked with pyro and flares. The match could be resumed after fifteen minutes.

At the time of the fan incident, Hannover was already 0:2 down. Max Marie (17th) and Yann Sturm (90.+2) scored for Lars Kornetka's Braunschweig.

Hannover's new coach Sandro Wagner thus remains without success in his third game.

Austrian international Damjan Kovacevic was on the bench for Braunschweig for 90 minutes, while Maximilian Entrup remains out due to injury.

Benedikt Pichler is also not in the squad for the visitors.
