The promoted side is currently struggling with major personnel issues. Even in Cologne, two key players had to leave the field due to injury.

Despite their fourth winless game in a row, Schalke 04 are showing an upward trend!

The promoted team in the German Bundesliga only managed a goalless draw away at 1. FC Köln on Matchday 7, but head coach Miron Muslic expressed satisfaction to "DAZN" after the final whistle.

Two more players lost

Above all, the current major injury concerns are troubling the Austrian coach: "Absolutely satisfied and very, very proud of the performance. We have lost eight regular starters within a week. That takes its toll and hurts every team."

Even in the difficult away game in Cologne, two players, Robin Gosens and Soufiane El-Faouzi, had to be substituted before halftime due to a collision (43.).

"Today, in one incident, we lost Robin and Sofie to serious injuries. That also affects a team. But then we pulled even closer together and left everything on the pitch," said Muslic.

ÖFB Duo also missing

Besides the two ÖFB national team players Dejan Ljubicic and Maximilian Wöber, Kenan Karaman, Ron Schallenberg, and Moussa Sylla were also among those missing.

In the end, it was a goalless draw in a largely balanced match, which didn't really help either team.

Muslic remains optimistic

Schalke currently sits in the relegation playoff spot with one win from seven games, while Köln has two more points and is twelfth.

Nevertheless, Muslic can find many positives in the draw. Especially because his team is so decimated at the moment: "The third clean sheet this season, and that as a promoted team. We can build on that."

For "Königsblau" (Royal Blues), action continues already on Wednesday with the cup match in Dresden. Next Saturday, RB Leipzig, who defeated Elversberg 4-0, will be visiting. ÖFB national team player Christoph Baumgartner scored a goal in that game. >>>
