Impressive! Baumgartner scores in Leipzig home win
The "Red Bulls" struggled for a long time against a courageous promoted side. In the end, individual class prevailed. Baumgartner crowns his league comeback.
Christoph Baumgartner is back in the German Bundesliga!
Three days after his comeback in the UEFA Champions League against Real Madrid, the ÖFB international also celebrated his return in the league.
And how: The attacking player came onto the pitch in the 71st minute along with fellow countryman Nicolas Seiwald, and a quarter of an hour later, he headed a Gruda cross over the goal line to make it 3:0 (84.).
RB Leipzig ultimately celebrated a clear 4:0 home victory against promoted side Elversberg in the 7th round of the German Bundesliga. The right response after two clear defeats in Munich (1:6) and Madrid (1:4).
All Goals After Half-Time
For a long time, Martin Demichelis's team had its problems against a courageous Elversberg side. It was only after half-time that Gomis relieved the Saxons with the opening goal (48.).
After that, Leipzig was the better team, and substitute Romulo scored through Kristof's legs to make it 2:0 (66.), before Baumgartner made it 3:0. The Austrian had another header opportunity in the 90th minute, but this time he shot just over.
In stoppage time, Romulo secured the 4:0 with his second goal after a fantastic assist from Kone (90.+3).
RB thus continues its flawless record at the Red Bull Arena and moves past the promoted side in the table.
