Over 360 Million Euros Spent: Yet Goalless and Winless
Tottenham Hotspur are among the top spenders in the transfer market. Nevertheless, they are stuck at the bottom of the table, just like last year.
After three matchdays, Tottenham Hotspur are in 17th place in the table with just one point. This despite having spent a lot of money this summer.
The London club has yet to score a goal in the Premier League. Against Glasner's Nottingham, they at least fought to a 0-0 draw for their first point.
Last season, the "Spurs" finished the season in 17th place and only managed to avoid relegation by two points ahead of West Ham United.
Record Spending This Summer
This summer, around 366 million Euros were spent on new players. More than ever before. This includes record transfer Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United for 108 million Euros.
Among the expensive signings were also Mateus Fernandes (€99 million), Sávio (€87.7 million), and Jan Paul Van Hecke (€60 million).
Only Manchester City and FC Chelsea have spent more money. Roberto De Zerbi is thus already under pressure. At least they can fully focus on the league – they are not represented internationally after last season's catastrophic performance.
