Over 100 Million Euros! New Transfer Record for Tottenham
The Italian moves from Newcastle to the Spurs, immediately setting several new records.
Sandro Tonali is leaving Newcastle United and moving to league rivals Tottenham Hotspur!
The 26-year-old midfielder is reportedly costing a transfer fee of 108 million Euros. Additionally, bonus payments amounting to 8.8 million Euros could be added.
This makes Tonali by far the most expensive Italian in football history and also the most expensive new signing for the "Spurs".
Ban Due to Illegal Betting
The 32-cap international moved from AC Milan to England in the summer of 2023 for around 60 million Euros. For Newcastle, he made a total of 110 appearances, scoring ten goals and providing ten assists.
During the 2023/24 season, Tonali was suspended for ten months due to illegal betting.
High Summer Spending
Tonali is already the sixth notable new signing, following Jan Paul van Hecke (60 million from Brighton), Mateus Fernandes (99 million from West Ham), Marcos Senesi (free transfer from Bournemouth), Andrew Robertson (free transfer from Liverpool), and Martin Dubravka (free transfer from Burnley).
In total, the team that finished 17th in the previous Premier League season has already spent 267 million Euros on new players.
