Official! Manchester City unveils Guardiola's successor
It had been an open secret in recent weeks. Now it's official.
Manchester City has officially announced the appointment of Enzo Maresca as their new head coach.
The Italian signed a contract until summer 2029, marking his third return to the top English club.
From 2020 to 2021, Maresca coached Manchester City's U23 team. After a brief spell at Parma, he returned to the "Citizens" between 2022 and 2023 as an assistant coach under Pep Guardiola.
Most recently at Chelsea
Maresca was most recently coach at rivals Chelsea until January and had previously also successfully managed Leicester City.
"Manchester City is a club I know very well, and the opportunity to coach this team is a great chance for me," the 46-year-old stated in an initial comment.
